If you can think of something to talk about that is not related to knives, discuss it here.

I came upon this old hand vise while treasure hunting recently. I thought it was pretty cool, especially for 5 bucks!

That hand vise is so cool! I don't even think I would have a use for it, but I would have to have it anyways...

Very nice collection Joe. I know I would have many uses if I had one, but I don't yet. I'll have to add it to my wish list.

Very nice Joe. You always show some fine old tools, thank you. I wasn't familiar with hand vises, I'll be on the look out for one now. ::tu::

I suppose I could have posted this one over in the outdoorsman's thread, but figured I'd put it here just because.
This is a big hairy spider that we almost literally stumbled into deep in the national forest in northern Wisconsin. Freaked out my wife and little girl! ::mdm:: If you double click on the picture you can enlarge it and get a nice close up! ::nod::
Near as I can tell it's a member of the wolf spider family...not poisonous to humans but still a freaky lookin' fella...

That you spotted that critter with its super camo job is impressive. I'm thinking it must have been moving to catch your attention. Or maybe you just have great vision.

I must be honest...That spider was on a suspended tree that was fallen across the trail about 6 feet off the ground...My son and I walked right under it and didn't notice a doggone thing. My wife, who was following along behind us with our daughter spotted it before she got under the tree and let out a yelp of fright, and pulled our little girl out from under it...My boy and I came back under and she pointed it out from afar as she cowered in fear...My son grabbed a stick and I grabbed the camera and we poked and prodded it a bit and took a few pics before leaving it be and moving on down the trail. My wife and daughter backed up and got a running start and sprinted under the tree while crouching down as far as they could...kinda humorous. Her fear of insects keeps her constantly vigilant for such things, so I'm not surprised she spotted it right off the bat...

As this was only a one hour drive from my home, I went for a drive up the Coast to have a look. Ken.

Cool pics Ken!

My son just moved into college yesterday. He needed a trunk to put under his bed. My dad had given me one a few years back from his Air Force days. We worked together to scrape 3-4 coats of deployment paint off it.

A bunch of sanding, priming, and paint. This is was we came up with...

Glenn, you're just an all around kind of guy. I believe they call that a "Renaissance Man". Good job.
