When I was collecting ZIPPO's I cross collected these two Jimmy Spencer Nascar cars since ZIPPO was a car sponsor. Models are 1/18 scale. Also, I smoked Camels and collected all the Camel "Smokin' Joe" ZIPPO's

Thanks Rick. I don't understand why these cars have not become more collectable since they are a piece of NASCAR history. Don't remember exactly when they booted cigarette advertising, but it's been a while ago. Winston was THE major sponsor for NASCAR. Anybody remember "Winston Cup"? Somehow feminine hygene products just don't speak to NASCAR racing, if you get my drift ::undecided::

Winston Cup Series (1971–2003).

Tobacco advertising:

"In 1997, the Tobacco Master Settlement Agreement bans outdoor, billboard and public transportation advertising of cigarettes in 46 states. It also prohibits tobacco advertising that targets young people, the usage of cartoons (such as the Marlboro Man or Joe Camel) in particular.[58] In the states which have not signed the agreement, billboards are a major venue of cigarette advertising (10% of Michigan billboards advertised alcohol and tobacco, according to the Detroit Free Press[59]).

Most recently, signed into law by President Barack Obama, the Tobacco Control Act became active on 22 June 2010. This act not only placed new restrictions on tobacco marketing but also extensive constraints concerning the circulation of cigarettes and smokeless tobacco to minors. Newly effective with this act, “audio advertisements are not permitted to contain any music or sound effects, while video advertisements are limited to static black text on a white background. Any audio soundtrack accompanying a video advertisement is limited to words only, with no music or sound effects."

The Government taxes the heck out of cigarettes, and then tries to stop people from smoking.

The Government MAKES auto makers get better mileage. Now they gripe because they aren't getting the tax off gas as much as they were.

Now to be on topic... let me see.....

With the warmer weather, I have been walking along the river at sunrise enjoying the scenery. This river runs just outside of town, so I'm always surprised how much wild-life hangs out there. This weekend I saw a pair of owls, an antelope and a coyote. No pic of the coyote though.

Ran onto this while surfin' around. I have no opinion on how it would sound but I think it's really pretty.

It is pretty Jerry and neither do I know how it would sound. Kind of up-in-the-air about what kind of wood it is ::shrug:: Could be Brazilian Rosewood, Cocobolo, Madigasgar Rosewood, etc. Don't know if it holds true with this wood or not but that highly figured wood is usually flat sawn to give you all that prettiness. I had a guitar with a back on it similar to that one, though not quite as extreem, and found that those types of cuts are not very stable and are very reactive to humidity changes, causing cracking. I had pictures of the guitar but I guess when I got rid of the guitar I got rid of the pics too. The quarter sawn, straight grain is the most stable.

Yep, he is a doll-baby   Cocobolo is one of those woods that a lot of people cannot tolerate, allergy wise. If you have a very bad allergy to cocobolo, it can kill ::uc::
