style of pin material

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

style of pin material

Post by gunny198 »

pin question?
i have 3 mastodon case classic knives that i have doubts about.
i bought all 3 from the same seller and this sellers reputation has come
into question. one red flag is the pin material used, which appears to be
nickle-silver. normally brass is used; so my question is: was different
pin metal used in any classics? by the way, they are marked protos.

Check out Hawke's question in Knife Related Q & A.

He has a picture of a Classic, not mastodon, but it has nickel silver pins.

I know nothing about Classics, but I did see his post.

Hope this helps, George.

thanks George for the reply,
unfortunally i couldnt get that picture to come up. but, looking at Rogers
50/2050 knives, i saw one of his ivory classic that had nickle-silver pins.
...makes me feel a little better.

Howdy gunny198,

----- In answer to your question about different pin materials used on the Case Classics, both Nickle Silver & Brass were used! ... Do you have proper documentation (COA's) for your three Mastodon handled knives, if not I can help you with this if you need them!
