Hey Mike,
Long story...short, Little White Buffalo ended up being a nickname that my grandpa gave me when I was knee high to grasshopper. I used to crawl around on all fours in plowed fields looking for arrowheads, while he took his morning nap after settin' lines on the river all night. One morning he said I looked like a Little White Buffalo out there scratchin' in the dirt. The name and fascination for the legends of the WB from the different Native American tribes just kinda stuck. Pretty much every culture had their own.

Hey great story WB! Thanks for sharing. Have you ever heard the Ted Nugent song Great White Buffalo? Not the best song in the world by a long shot, but it shows how the legends and mystique surrounding the white buffalo are still out there even in modern times....

Oh heck yah, it's been my rock anthem for many, many years. One time, I actually stood on the stage while they played it. My first Nugent concert was at a little 1500 seat memorial building in SE Kansas. He opened for some other no name band and totally blew 'em away. People remember Uncle Ted, but nobody remembers that band he opened for. They say people that go into that memorial building, can still feel it vibrating today. But then, no matter what Ted Nugent does, he's a perpetual earthquake!

Hey that's great WB!

Fred Bear has been an anthem for our family ever since the song came out...It was played at the funeral services of two of my brothers that have passed on, and my sister has "In the wind he's still alive" tatted on her arm in their memory.. Went to see him play shortly after after the first brother died and it was a spirtual experience when he played the song...one of those "hair on the arms standing up" kind of things....then he brought his bow out on stage and shot a flaming arrow into a rotating target on stage, our ears rang for days after that but it was well worth it.

rangerbluedog, that little pig reminded me of some folks in Tractor supply the other day. We could hear a pig squealing and realized a couple had a little pig with a harness and a sweater, like a lap dog. Quite a sight! Still shakin' my head and wondering about them, the couple, not the pig. treefarmer

Thanks Perry! Every piece in the collection has a story behind it, but the ones my mom and sister made by hand, will always be the most cherished.
Mike, I love Fred Bear! Very deep and meaningful song, but for none so much as you and your family.

Not as exotic as some of the stuff you guys are showing, but this is my working guitar - a 2007 C.F. Martin Herringbone D-28. A really great guitar.

These are kind of a rare find. I swung a deal for the 3 at a fleamarket up the road. All Coleman's, all patent dated 1919. Two table lamps/lanterns and one wall hanging model. The all brass table model is in the best condition and actually the rarer of the bunch. They're all missing the globes/shades, but I think I did alright at $7 apiece for 'em. I'll try to remember to get another pic posted after I clean 'em up a bit.

Thanks Royal! Most everyone knows about Coleman lanterns, but not everyone realizes that early on, they also made gas lighting for homes. Folks here in the Ozark Mountains could've used these for sure. Many of the back country areas around here weren't wired for electricity until the 1940's and 50's. The wall model is setup with peg legs on the tank so it can also be used as a table model. Some of these type lights, may have also been used by military in the field.
I'm not sure yet, but I think with very little effort, these 3 could be brought back to full working order. Other then the missing globe/shades, they seem to be complete and fairly clean inside. I'm gonna try contacting Coleman to see if they can give me a source for replacing the glass.

W.B. -- My dad worked for the Rural Electric Administration (REA) for a bit of time when I was about four or five years old. I remember we were living in my uncles old place (an honest to goodness log cabin) at the time. That would have been somewhere around '48 or '49.

Yep Jerry, if it weren't for the rural coops, we'd still be using these old gas lights.
