Camillus #23 Restoration

Post by orvet »

I have admired the big old Camillus #23 jacks for a long time and have wanted to build one.
I have one that is near mint, but I didn't want to start with it, I had a #23 that had a worn spear blade, but a good pen blade. I found a new #23 blade in ebay and bought it.

I replaced the worn blade and added some stag from the old Henckels factory.
I was pleased with the results, though I won't keep it, I will have to put it in my store and sell it, because there is too much snap in these blades for my old arthritic hands! I about lost a finger a couple times while polishing this bad boy after I sharpened the blades.
These blades are scary sharp too! I love that Camillus carbon steel!

There are scratched on my scanner that are not on the blade, especially in the last pic.

I've admired those 23s for some time now but was put off by the Cell handles. I really like what you did with the old girl. Please PM your asking price.

That's a great pattern!

I love that stag. I know what you are saying about making something you really like, but not being able to hang onto it. It's tough to let things like that go.

Great job Dale!
