That was neat Jerry, I really liked that. Loved the song too. One of the pictures, Ann Lee Patterson, was from my home-town of Ludlow, Ky. and graduated from Ludlow High School.

We had a bumper crop of lemons off our tree in the backyard this year. Don't really know why. I think the most we have had in any year is 10 or 12. This year we got 83! (plus a few more that got weed-wacked).

Now what the heck does a person do with 83 lemons? I know, I know....when life gives you lemons...

How refreshing. Mature, confident, sober men working in unison, supported by their experience and skills. Skill at handling material and tools and knowledge of construction. It isn't too complicated. Just that can take you a long way, as displayed in the video.
Noticebly absent is the anger and beligerence and foolishness of undisiplined, unskilled wanabes often found here.
I wish we could have seen them sharpen their tools.
Great video.

Other than for the cut lumber, the finished doors and windows and possibly the roof shingles, I suspect no power tools were used.

Fascinating to watch.

I was especially interested in that long "U" shaped piece of iron they used to stabilize the logs while they used their axes on them.

I was also curious as to why the man went around the entire cabin walls, both inside and out, shaving off that final 1/8 to 1/4" to expose fresh wood.

Interesting that they overlapped the roof shingles horizontally as opposed to vertically. Obviously, it works, as they've probably been doing it that way for hundreds of years. Looks like it would leak, though, to these ignorant eyes of mine.

I wonder what the "R" factor of dirt, hair and moss might be.

Oh, to be able to live such a simple and productive life.

I envy them.
