Very nice Gino, I'm fond of Hen & Rooster products and have several. But you guys did your job well when you got me interested in GEC products. I have fallen in love with this Tidioute White Owl and have been carrying it almost every day since I purchased it from another forum member. I have two Tidioute knives now and have found them to be of the highest quality. Once again, thanks for educating me on this brand.

Charlie, I like that White Owl.

Would buy one if they replaced the pen blade with a cap lifter.

Heh. Check out the camera and tripod in the left end bolster!!!

Smokepole, you're killing me. Just killing me. That looks fantastic!!! I just love that blade combo and you did a great job with it.

Today, it's the de-bailed Ulster Camper. Much nicer to carry with no bail. Two too many blades though. 8)

In terms of carrying knives not fully done (and to be clear, I don't equate modifying an Opinel handle to building a knife from stinkin' scratch!), this Opinel #10 is riding in the PDA case, even though the handle isn't all the way done. Blade knocked back to a drop point and handle thinned with easy open indent. Still tuning the pivot though and several coats of top coat needed.

The knife is about the same size as my Buck 110 at about a 1/4 of the weight. Light enough to disappear in the PDA case unnoticed. Still big enough to start feeling like a real knife though.

This was my first experience working with water based dye stains. I'm kind of digging the black and steel combo though. It definitely has a presence about it.

Thanks Dave, glad you like it - thought you might! ::woot:: I like what you did to that Opinel - especially the way you shaped that easy open notch - makes for a very nice, secure handle shape.

Yeah, I'm still learning the art of knife photography. I believe there's a big freckled hand in there too!!! ::rotflol:: I'm getting better but I'm no expert.

I find that using a crappy camera helps to minimize unwanted reflections (although I sort of reckon that certain organizations in the Virginia area can get facial recognition software to pull out images just the same). ::uc::

Been carrying this one for a few days. It's a N.C.C.O that had gassed out handles. Dale sent me some nice Ebony, so I pimped it out.

Good carbon steel in this one.

Those folks in VA already got my pic! ::rotflol:: If you like cap lifters, here's an old Providence Cut Co. you should like. ::tu::

Great knife Charlie!! But you know what you've gone and done now, don't you? Where am I going to find sheet suitable for making that lifter??? :D :D :D

It looks to be about 16 or 18 gauge stainless, be careful with the bend allowance because it's very hard stainless and will crack on the bend otherwise. Or you could improvise and use mild steel and case harden after shaping. Just a couple of thoughts that came to mind when I read your comment. ::tu:: I'm getting ready to reclaim my little shop in the basement now that my youngest son has moved out on his own. I've never made any folders, just fixed blade knives. I plan to try my hand at folders when I get things back in order. I suspect that I will have a great many questions for guys like you when I get there. :)

Dave, the long nail-nick and swedge on the spear blade makes it just perfect - nice EO.

Thanks. That TL-29 is a handful! You better use both pockets, or you'll be leaning to one side...
