I-LIKE-KNIVES

Post by TimW »

Has anyone heard from I-LIKE-KNIVES?

I've tried a couple of e-mails without a response yet. I know they had fire at his home and it had created issues with items ordered. Last time I heard anything I believe he was going to start shipping 2/24 (I believe). I don't mind waiting but I do want to verify that he still has my order.

Hello Tim,

I know Glenn, did you try calling him?

Actually no I did not call him. Thought he might be here or someone else might have more information. Hopefully nobody thinks I'm trying to imply something with the post. I'm not! Just go an e-mail a while back explaining the problem and when items would start shipping.

HI
I placed my first order with Glenn 0n 2/11. I received an e-mail informing me of a fire and that everything would be caught up and shipped by 2/24.
Since then I have e-mailed a couple of times for an update and have received no product or replies to my e-mails.
Have to admit, I am beginning to wonder.
Anyone heard from him ?

I've known Gleen to be a straight shooter and an honest guy in our dealings. I would say that he is likely caught up in a boondoggle of the insurance industry, they never seem to like to payout. Yeah, prove to me that you had this ::doh:: I'm sure he will get back to you, but probably not as timely as you both would like. In the end, he will get it done. Hang in there.

Funny thing about that.....I've been waiting for an order for over a month. I placed an order well before the supposed fire and the reason I got was he had lacerated his stomach. Now I get on here and read it was a fire? I really don't care what it was....a little communication from him would be nice. I can put up with a lot of stuff if the guy communicates, but he sure doesn't. I don't trust his word.....period. Bryan even got ahold of him last weekend. He never told Bryan about a fire or Brian never relayed to me there was a fire. Glenn told him my stuff would be sent out last Saturday.....still haven't received it yet. He e-mailed me around the 2nd of February and told me my stuff was on the way....still haven't received it. Does that sound like a straight shooter to you? The guys word is no good....that's just my opinion, you do what you want, but I'll never do business with again. Now there are two different stories on the delays? That smells of something but it ain't straight-shooting. Additionally, as a store owner who already has our money, the onus is on him to communicate with us. We've fulfilled our end of the contract. We did everything the way it was supposed to be done.

I did speak to Glenn last weekend about this stuff. He told me about the fire and a he informed me that he was recovering from a surgery. I gathered from our conversation that it was the surgery that has him most behind schedule. I do not know the extent of the fire and Glenn might not have wanted his heath history broadcasted like I've just done ::dang:: (sorry Glenn).

I do believe that he is trying his best to get everything straightened out asap. Glenn has always had grade A customer service for as long as I have known him. I will personally reimburse anyone for their purchase on Glenn's behalf if you have an order that does not get filled in a timely manner. If it has been a month, or if it gets to be a month, please contact me at bryan@allaboutpocketknives.com and I'll send you the funds and work with Glenn myself on the issue.

Definitely above and beyond the call. As you know Bryan, I do not expect, nor will I accept any money from you. That's not your responsibility and while I appreciate the gesture more than you will know, if Glenn would just communicate, I wouldn't have a problem. I've twice been told the items are in the mail only to not have that been the truth. No doubt that the advent of E-Bay has caused folks to fall victim to those who do not deliver to become extremely wary when these things happen. Add that to my being a new collector and reading the horror stories of the Tennesee Mafia or whatever they're called and it causes a new guy to become extremely distrustful of all when that's not the case. I've had some great exchanges here (LT) and will continue to do so. It's just that when a guy takes your money, at the very least, that guy owes you communication. There are at least three on here where that communication has been non-existent. Just not good business practice. I feel for anyone that is going through problems and don't want it to seem like I'm not empathetic to peoples problems. However, I've been told twice the items are in the mail and that just isn't the case. At what point does personal problems excuse outright untruths?

I'll have to go along with ducks_and_bucks66 in that I don't want Bryan covering for another person.

If he has been unable to respond to my e-mails due to the fire and surgery, I can understand. Since that is the case I don't think a phone call from a perfect stranger the appropriate thing to do at this moment either. I have enough Sentry solutions products to wait another couple of weeks before I try giving him a call.

Well, it's been two days since I called and left a message for Glenn with no return phone call. I know there are some folks who've had good deals with him but I'm growing leary. If these are real problems he's dealing with, then why no communication? Heck, if he doesn't have the product I purchased, then send my money back. Say what you want, but it's definitely put a bad taste in my mouth. If this is becoming a pattern and Bryan keeps offering to pay people, it could get expensive for Bryan. I made my purchase on 2/02/07 before the fire and health problems. I received an e-mail from Glenn on 2/06/07 saying they would be in the mail on 2/07/07 at the latest. Two weeks after that I sent a couple of e-mails out (with no response), Bryan talked to Glenn and Glenn told him that my product would be shipped out on 3/03/07. Still have not received product. Buyers beware....he may be a great guy but you take your chances and I know I will never darken the doors of I-Like-Knives again.

I disabled Glenn's store a few days ago. If anyone tries to buy something, they are met with a note that informs them that I-Like-Knives is not currently accepting orders.

I'll be leaving it this way pending further developments.

I am aware of three orders that have not been filled. Please keep me posted if / when you receive your stuff...
bryan@allaboutpocketknives.com

I'll remain in contact with Glenn as best I can to inform him of the severity of this situation and to keep everyone affected informed of what is going on.

Bryan,
I'm sorry you had to get involved at all, but it does speak volumes about your willingness to go above and beyond which is why I will not think twice about buying from someone else's store. In fact, be looking for a canal street order coming up real soon. Those knives you have look pretty darn good ::tu::

UPDATE

Post by ducks_and_bucks66 »

I received my items from Glenn today. Just as I was quick to complain about the service, I will as quickly let you know that he did provide a written letter apologizing for the delay. I wish I would have heard from him throughout the ordeal, however, I will gladly accept his apology. Thank you Glenn for fulfilling the order. Please know that in the future a simple e-mail explaining the situation will go a long way. I hope the things in your life that need to be resolved get resolved for you.

Offically 5 weeks today since payment was made.

I'm still willing to wait a while longer simply due to other people on the forum speaking well of Glenn.

Nothing as of today.

I've started the complaint process through PayPal. I'm sorry it has come to that but there has been no response since the e-mail telling me items would begin shipping on 2/24/07. That was basically two week after my payment.

By the way, Bryan shipped my D2 Canal Street Trapper very fast.

Received my order today from Glenn.

Everything is as should be and I'm satisfied with the service. All PayPal resolution issues have been cancelled.

Thanks Glenn,

Tim
