Re: Pictures of Miscellaneous Stuff & Things
Gino,
It`s not a knife, it was originally a folding key to open doors. I have several of these.
Yours has had the end ground off and someone made it into a knife, does it have a sharp cutting edge?
Here is a picture of one that has not been altered.

Re: Pictures of Miscellaneous Stuff & Things
I think your right. The blade is not real sharp and it has a #5 on it. The key thing is still pretty cool how it folds. Thanks for clearin that one up I was wondering ever since I found it

Actually if you look a little closer, I believe that's a 15 stamped on the "blade".gino wrote:I think your right. The blade is not real sharp and it has a #5 on it. The key thing is still pretty cool how it folds. Thanks for clearin that one up I was wondering ever since I found it

Maybe it was key #15 and went to lock #15.

Re: Pictures of Miscellaneous Stuff & Things
This is/was my Grandmother's "barrel top" steamer trunk.
My dad's side of the family immigrated from England to western N.C. in the 1870's.
Going by the patent dates, I think they must have purchased this pretty close to new.
My Great Grandfather was a doctor and she was one of his 16 kids!
I can remember this old trunk, amongst several others, in her attic. She new that I wanted
it and it was left to me when she passed in the early '80s.
It is 100% original!! Check-out the detail that went into making this old thing!
The curved top trunks were purposely designed so that no other trunks or cargo could be placed
on top of them. They were the last to be loaded and, in conclusion, the first to be unloaded.
This meant you didn't have to wait long at the port or depot to get your trunk.
A clever idea indeed!
The trunk acts as a catch-all for seasonal clothing and quilts.
Today there was a surprise in it for me!

Beautiful old trunk Joe. I remember when I was a kid, there was one like it in the attic of my grandfather's house. His dad and grandmother came to Northern Kentucky in about 1850 from Baden, Germany. My sister took the trunk and gave it away.
Will there be a part 2 to your post?

Ask your wife where she puts things "That don't belong there" and she'll probably lead you right to those missing cigar boxes.

I'm from Iowa, just was shipped off to the frozen Hell. Actually I loved it up there. I've often fantasized about reenrolling myself in that school for another go around.jerryd6818 wrote:Badger, welcome to AAPK. Are you a native cheese-head or did you just go to school there?

Re: Pictures of Miscellaneous Stuff & Things
Welcome to the forum, Badger! It's a great place to hang out.
Thanks for the compliments on the old trunk, guys!
Robert, your welcome anytime to stop by and go on a treasure hunt! The house is
full and I've had to start putting stuff in rental storage units. I know there is a box of lead
soldiers in one of the units.
Got a couple original unrestored peddle cars stored also!
Only 1 Chevy right now. It's not to old, but it's a good one. Hows bout a silver anniversary
Z28 convertible (1992) I got for a carton of cigarettes!
I sold the '53 Bel air a few years back - it had a wind-up clock mounted in the
glove box door... and it still worked!!
O.K. here's a few cast toys...
PLEASE, someone, for the love of God, hold Perry back! hahaha
There one owners! Yes, again, they were my dad's. He grew up during the Great Depression
and kids took care of what they had, if they had anything at all.
The motorcycle and dump truck are cast iron and were made by Champion. The tractor is
made of hard rubber and was made by Auburn.
