If you can think of something to talk about that is not related to knives, discuss it here.

Toyota vis Genral Motors

Post by justold52 »

A Japanese company (Toyota) and an American company (General Motors) decided to have a canoe race on the Missouri River. Both teams practiced long and hard to reach there peak performance before the race.

On the big day, the Japanese team won by a mile.

The Americans, very discouraged and depressed, decided to investigate the reason for the crushing defeat. A management team made up of senior management was formed to investigate and recommend appropriate action.

Their conclusion was the Japanese team had 8 people rowing and 1 person steering, while the American team had 8 people steering and 1 person rowing.

So American management hired a consulting company and paid them a large amount of money for a second opinion. They advised that too many people were steering the boat, while not enough people were rowing. To prevent another loss to the Japanese, the American's rowing team's management structure was totally reorganized to 4 Steering supervisors, 3 area steering superintendents and 1 assistant Superintendent steering manager.

They also implemented a new performance system that would give the 1 person rowing the boat greater incentive to
work harder. It was called the "Rowing Quality First Program," with meetings, dinners and free pens for the rower. There was discussion of getting new paddles, canoes and other equipment, extra vacation days for practices and bonuses.

The next year the Japanese won by two miles.

Humiliated, the American management laid off the rower for poor performance, halted development of a new canoe
sold the paddles, and canceled all capital investments for new equipment. The money saved was distributed to the Senior Executives as bonuses and the next year's racing team was outsourced to India.

India in about 8 years will be the larbest English speeking nation in the world.

I just wounder what kind of knives India will make to sell to the U.S.A. ::dang:: ::dang::

Yep, I know have an automatic second level support. If you know a little bit about computors, you know the first level is working off a list when you call, DEMAND second level support if you can get into the registry of your PC and use it without crashing the PC, you already know more than the first level will, EVER!

Very interesting story, Ken. I work in the auto industry, and have seen first-hand the demise of the "BIG 3". The US auto industry has not kept up with technology, training, product variations, or customer demand for a "Better product for a Better price" (quoting my employers motto). They have, and will continue, to be ruled and run into the ground by the UAW. I have the luxury of speaking as a former union member and must say their usefulness has passed. The next time you see a BMW Z-4 roadster or X-5 SUV, Mercedes C450, or Toyota Tundra remember this: they are made in America, by Americans, and exported to the rest of the world. The auto industry has changed and Detriot failed to change with it. Now, the US will pay the price for their short sighted arrogance.

You know Bomber if that was not so true I would laugh..

I have spent countless hours wasting my time talking to folks in Inda while working out problems with Linksys, my sons Xbox and other fun stuff...I would rather have 6 or 7 root canals after my rectal cleansing with a pressure washer than have to ever call somebody's help line in that country again... ::dang::
