biglmbass______I've got one of the #66 Jacks,in Snakewood, and yes,the blade""sits too high"" ____I can send it back ( they will fix,it ),but so far,I haven't ---when the #66 ,was first released, this was a ""major issue""____but after many complaints,I'm thinking, that the ""high blade issue"" has been fixed by GEC----the only other #66 pattern, that I have purchased ,since the issue,is a Moose, and neither of the blades sits to high----I'll let ya' know, when, it arrives___biglmbass wrote:You've got great taste, Monk. Isn't that dog leg a sweetheart?Wasn't sure I'd like it but when the unserialized ones started getting scare I jumped. Was my 1st ebony GEC, and as they say at McDonalds, I'm loving it.
Tell me, on that 66 jack, does the pen blade sit low enough in the frame to not "bite" you? I've seen some pics of & heard others say that when closed the pen blade tip sticks up just above the handle to catch/cut bare skin. I've been eyeballing one of these in bruised banana bone but have held up for that reason. Thanks.

Macassar Ebony Highland SpcL by BRK&T

I thought I had several ebony folders to post but turns out some
are buffalo horns and Case College says the 22087 isn't ebony either.
So I'm down to one but it's a good'un imho.
Seen a few already posted but surely one more won't hurt.

Re: Love me some Ebony!
After drooling over this thread again, I thought i'd add a couple. It's hard to beat ebony IMO. Even old half used up jacks do it for me

I love me some ebony, too.
Here's an E.C. Simmons Keen Kutter, and a Shapleigh Diamond Edge single blade jack. I think the Shapleigh is actually rosewood. Both of these still have a faint etch visible.

Re: Love me some Ebony!
Nice knives fellers. Ebony is one of my favorite woods. Have several knives with ebony handles and all my guitars, mandolins and fiddles have ebony fingerboards, bridges and the fiddles have ebony tailpieces. Beautifully, simplistic wood, and it has better tonal qualities than rosewood.
