STC is the carbon version of the BO2004ST. I have several versions of this model in many different handle patterns. I have found that many "selling" sites have either the wrong picture posted or the wrong item description.
The first model of this hunter lockblade actually was in 1985. They have issued many since with or without etching and in several handle patterns. If you are buying from someone who has the box, you can get the model number for the knife being sold. I actually purchased a stainless steel stag 2004 but was shipped a carbon version. Once you have the stainless and carbon versions in had you can see the difference.
You should also have the word "stainless" on the tang of the 2004 ST. The carbon version will only have the Boker and Germany stamped on the tang. "Carbon" will not be on the tang stamp.
Also there is a version of stag handle that is considerably thicker than the regular stag model. I will post some pix today. The STC stag version has stag handles that are about 1 1/2 in thick!
