Before and After Boker Barlow
Before and After Boker Barlow
I bought this old Barlow from an AAPK shop with a specific purpose in mind - to send it to Muskrat Man and get him to rebuild it as a single blade knife. I think he did a fine job and now I can look forward to many years of good service out of the knife. But someday when we are all moldering in the grave, do you think someone on AAPK is going to be pondering how a Boker came to have a Camillus blade in it?

Neat idea. Looks good to me! Where do you find someone who can do that type of work? I am new to the hobby and my only knife store experience has been at the Smoky Mt. Knife Works.
Re: Before and After Boker Barlow
Is it worth the cost of having him do the work for the end result? Did you get a good price??
-( life is too short to carry a cheap knife )-

For those who don't know him, Muskrat Man is a regular poster to AAPK and has an AAPK store. Check it out, he has some great custom work and you can get his email address in case you want to commission a custom or have some repair work done. He has done several of these conversions for me, taking old Barlows and turning them into single blade knives. The original knives I pick up at junk prices and then Muskrat Man finds a decent blade from the same period to put in the knife. I think his prices are very reasonable. Could I get back what I put into it, considering the original purchase price, shipping and the cost of the repair? Probably not, but neither will I ever see another knife quite like mine.
