For me Users Carbon - Collecting Stainless
I'll vote Stainless since that was not specified.

Re: carbon or stainless steel
I like both so long as they have good heat treatment - but I am not keen on things like 440A for example which are too sot to sharpen. And I think the worries ae old ones related to earlier steels. Good modern stainless is just as good as good modern carbon

Didn't have to hesitate or think about it, carbon it is and always has been.

Carbon or Stainless Steel..................
Carbon for the most part but I have a SOG in VG-10 stainless that is hard to beat.
Why do you ask such difficult questions?

Re: carbon or stainless steel
I voted carbon because most of my slipjoints are either 1095 or CV, but I am very partial to D2 as well which from what I understand isn't classified as stainless, but pretty close due to the chromium content.

Re: carbon or stainless steel
I live on a very humid Island surrounded by salt water so I carry stainless blades. In my opinion the newer stainles steels are incredibly tough and really hold an edge. I carry one in S30V and another in 13C26. The S30V does hold an edge a bit better but both are great. In the kitchen I recently put Jade onto a VG10/Damacus clad, small Chef knife and both my wife and I have both started using it for about everything as it just cuts and cuts and cuts. Talk about holding an edge - try a VG10 blade. Wow....

Not to burst your bubble Reddrummed but a damascus clad blade would be carbon!
If it helps I voted for stainless too.

Where's the C. Other selection?
A or B may be considered by some as an over simplification
of a very complex decision that under certain circumstances
could be a matter of life or death.
Better play it safe...get six of each!
Such as Carbon vs SS Opie No.06
Or 63032CV vs 63032SS

I suspect this debate will go on for awhile.
Kind of like asking whether you want
your first born to be male or female.
I'll go ahead and vote on that one too.
C. Mom & Baby both healthy & well.
