This is(sort of) a knife test. please don't take it too seriously.
WHAT DO YOU SEE WRONG WITH THIS KNIFE???

replaced pins, as well as the frame and handles don't look like a case. back springs are corroded. clip blade possibly reshaped.

A more challenging question would have been What do you see that may be right with this knife? I'm still looking

Ok here I go.

I am looking at my 80161 trpper yellow.
Whitch this is not but the blades do NOT even match along with every part of this knife.
I am going to say every thing is WRONG.

I know you wanted it to be a ONE of a KIND.

Assuming the Spey blade is open all the way... yeah the spring does not snap back in?
Obviously there is nothing right about the knife, I don't know why anyone would try t counterfeit a Chinese knife

It sure doesn't look like a Case to me. Besides everything else, it looks too thick. Looks like Pakistan or China.

Yeah, it looks like they put a couple of Case blades into a foreign handle.

Are those possibly cobbler's nails in the pivot area?

The top one looks like Brother of Pearl maybe...Not sure. However, the second ah, knife....MUST be SandBar stag.

Those are beauties ! Looks like they were made by the same people.
Thanks for the offer to buy my trapper, but I have really taking a liking to it. I might consider buying yours, though, if you think you can part with them? They belong together.
I just can't believe that you're the only one that has said anything positive about them.

These appear to be "lunch box" knives.....removed from production prior to final finishing. All appear to me to be genuine CASE knives.

I have no idea...but its also possible that if a defect was noted in the knife during production, it could ahve been removed from the production line prior to final hafting and finishing.

Actually, the stag is nice enough on the bottom one.....too many pins in the covers of the smaller one for my taste. I suspect knifeaholic is correct, those may have just walked out before makeup had a chance to spruce them up right properly. What patterns are those?

Patterns from the Parker era that lingered on at Case after he left. They were both Parker USA patterns prior to being Parker/Case patterns. In fact the 405 IIRC goes back to the 70's era Parker Japan knives was called the Leopard.

Way to go, knifeaholic! You get a gold star.
The trappers, as well as the lock-backs are ALL factory rejects. "lunch box knives" is correct.
I have had a lot of fun with them.
I think that paknives "tests" are great learning tools and I applaud him for them. That's why I apologized to him, up front.
I posted the trappers, then got sk involved in it and he posted the other 2. All 4 of them are mine.
The trapper's have never been sharpened, handles not shaped, pins not ground down, bolsters not shaped, no shield and one of them, the backsprings haven't been polished. One has a bent backspring, the other had the corner of a backspring ground off,etc...
The 81225LSS; un-sharpenend, bent backspring, pins not ground, etc.
The 51405LSS is pretty much the same.

Thanks to sk for going along with it. He did a great job.
These are knives in a condition that we don't often see and are not very pretty. I suppose that with some work, they could be made into usable knives, but I choose to leave them in this condition.
I don't suppose anybody would like to look at them, but if you would, I will send them to you and you can send them back, in a reasonable amount of time.
