Scales for Benchmade Rukus

Post by MITCH RAPP »

8) Hey Guys! I want to buy some ivory micarta scales for my Benchmade Rukus but I don't want to pay the Benchmade factory price of $80.00. Does anybody know of them being sold cheaper else where?

Try Jantz Supply. The following link should take you to the right page with all of their micarta scales. This is if you want to make your own, less than $20 including shipping.

Good luck!

8) Hukk, Thanks for the quick reply but I need to buy the Benchmade factory scales because I do not posses the skill to manufacture my own. Benchmade makes wine red, ivory white, silver and black G10. Perhap sometime in the future the AAPK Blade store might carry them?

Benchmade is quite staunch about their pricing. I wish you good luck on finding a lower price.

Let us know if you do, please.

Mitch,
I checked their web site and looked at the knife (since I don't have it) and looked at the scales they have. I think they are machined or laser cut. It would be hard to make those by hand. I have made a lot of knives and re-handled a lot more, but I would hate to try these without the machinery & know how to use it, (neither of which I possess).

Benchmade tends to be high-tech in the manufacturing process of their knives. I haven't been in their factory since they moved up to Oregon City. I was in the factory when it was still out in Clackamas, about 10-12 years ago. At that time I couldn't believe the changes from the early days when they were just starting out. Their knives are now made with such precision that it would take an accomplished machinist to make a lot of the parts for them, IMO.

Les de Asis (the owner) is a class act and a genuine nice guy. From what I have heard, Benchmade is a great place to work.

Just my $.02,
Dale
