Here are four from the early 1970s I think. They are well made and perhaps a little chunkier than recent models. They all came in a green Boker box. Any further information will be greatly appreciated. s-k
I like the way Boker etched the model number and handle material into the blade back then. Kind of helps determine what goes together... Still can't figure out that second shield though ... Surely Boker didn't serialize all of their knives back then ... or did they?
It appears to me that Boker started using the second serialized shield in August 1976 (or somewhere thereabout). My only evidence is the Great American Story knives. The "200 years of Freedom" knife came out in July 1976, without a second shield. The next knife in the series, "The Cotton Gin" came out in August 1976, and it had the stamped shield. I don't know how long Boker used the serialized shields. Maybe it was just a WISS thing. Before 1976 it looks like they were putting a serial number on the main blade, but I don't know when that started either...
One thing I'm confused about - your knife doesn't have the BOKER USA tang stamp. I thought all Bokers made in the US in the 70's had the BOKER USA tang stamp. Where did you buy these?
