My Last Custom Knife
I bought the tempered blank from Gene Martin at Provision Forge in southern Oregon. He grinds these by hand in his shop. It's made of ATS-34 and damned hard. After a small amount of epoxy and some well placed pins, not to mention 8 months of hand sanding, I was able to come up with this. I don't think I have enough hand strength to make another. The handles are from some old fossil's tusk that a friend of mine found weathering out of a beach up north. The pins and bolsters of stainless steel. Whew!

Nice one Jack!
Is that your first one you have made?
If so you did a darn fine job.

Re: My Last Custom Knife
Thanks, guys. I've made a few from Jantz blanks and rebuilt a couple vintage fixed blades and folders, but this is probably my best attempt. There are still some tiny sanding scratches I didn't get worked out of the mirror polish, but that way I can use it and not feel so bad if I scratch up the blade. I mostly just hangs it on muh cowboy rig!

Re: My Last Custom Knife
I really appreciate all the nice comments. guys. Gene does a helluva fine job grinding and tempering these blade blanks. I highly recommend his work from the Provision Forge in Oregon. I definetly couldn't have done it without him. This project gave me a new appreciation for the fine custom work done by all of our homegrown custom makers! Keep up the good work, guys!
