... Well Sas, as a matter of fact ... it was! ... Or more to the point it was what you DIDN'T say that has offended me ...I was out camping this weekend, and you didn't even have the curtesy to say hello... you just walked on by! .. I know... I saw your tracks!

Well, the whole idea is to NOT be seen. I left you a footprint, what more do you want?

Beautiful pics! Nice RR too. I really miss those sunsets with the Saguaro silhouettes black against the colorful sky. I miss the night sky out there too. Laying on a bedroll under the stars next to a small campfire looking at the sky is how I fell asleep on many occasions. You don't get those views of the night sky back here, too much ground clutter and smog.

Sas, I know you are especially elusive when you are stomping about in the woods, but I what I don't understand is how come all the pictures of you always come out so dammed blurry!!!

Methane clouds. It's a defense mechanism. Release a large amount of methane which forms a cloud and distorts the light making focus impossible. Native Americans call it broken wind. It's also why people say we smell bad.

Mahalo, Squach Hawaii certainly does offer a lot of photographic opportunities from the macro (mountains & ocean) to the micro (texture of rocks & plants) and everything in between (like a "well maintained gate valve"). The beauty of photographing knives is in how it forces me to really look at the various elements all around and contemplate their intrinsic beauty. The knives are really just an excuse to take pictures of things I find compelling and to try and capture that essence.

Your area does have more interesting landscapes than mine. Great photos of that Marbles.

Mahalo, Mel I've lived in many different places and one thing I have learned from my travels is that every place has something interesting and unique to offer. Some places, like Hawaii, practically beat you over the head with beautiful scenery while the beauty in other places requires more effort to discover. But, regardless of the location, the trick, for me at least, is in looking at the mundane and familiar with fresh eyes like someone seeing it for the very first time. Even in a place like Hawaii it's all too easy to become so accustomed to my surroundings that I lose that sense of wonder I felt when I first moved here. Knife photography helps me rediscover that wonder and keep it alive.

Mahalo, Kevin I always liked the RCSB handle of that Marbles but I didn't fully appreciate the knife as a whole until I EDC'd it for a few days. It's a great knife; thanks again for giving it to me. Knife photography has helped me gain a new or renewed appreciation for many of the knives in my collection because it gives me an excuse to take them out of the safe and interact with them on a different level. Even if I don't ever actually use them to cut anything, just carrying them around with me for a day and putting them in different situations to photograph is enjoyable and satisfying.
