Re: Blades with Swedge Cuts
Going through my archive pics, I came across this bunch of HJs, where the swedges show up nice. Also a close-up of the same pic to make reading the tangs easier.

Do you have a bone handle Empire HJ?
If so, can I see a picture of it?

Re: Blades with Swedge Cuts
Fran,
That Battle ax and the Schrade EO are my two favs so far.
For some reason I like those huge fat spear blades with a swedge cut.
What's not to like?
This one has been getting some pocket time, in spite of some blade loss.
I have to watch my fingers though, it snaps like a bear trap!

Excellent display of swedges Paul!
What brands are the two small bone handled rope knives?
Got an extra you want to trade or sell?
Those are SWEET!

Thanks Dale, The 2 small rope knives are WW1 issue sailor's knives. The open one is a Challenge Cut Co and the one under it is a W.R. Case & Sonsorvet wrote:Excellent display of swedges Paul!![]()

I would like to acquire all examples from the suppliers of them for my collection. I know Schatt & Morgan, Cattaraugus and Camillus also made them possibly others.
So I don't have extras to sell or trade at this time.

Re: Blades with Swedge Cuts
A little off topic, Dale, but for a user I'd like the Battle Axe best. I hold a knife in my left hand and open with my right. The Axe is the only of several EO's I have with the master blade on the mark side. It may seem like a small difference but it's much easier to get the thumb and forefinger in for a good pinch. You need a strong pinch on this one too, as it has about the strongest springs of any knife I own, including new GEC's. It's really difficult to open that big spear blade with the nail pull.orvet wrote:Fran,

Look too at the difference in the gauge of the liners between the Axe and the Schrade. A heavy duty knife fer sure !
Maybe Dimitri, our 'bone man' will take a look and a guess at who made the Axe for A.R. Justice.

Alas, the bone is chipped, but it is otherwise, a pretty good example!MILLER BRO`S wrote:Charlie, upnorth wrote:I came across this bunch of HJs, where the swedges show up nice.

Paul, that's a killer collage!
It is pleasant to see passels of people participating in this pulchritudinous panorama of purty swedges!!

Thanks Dave, that MSA EZO is one of my favOrites.
At least in my top 3 if not numero uno.
Those sure are some great oldies ya'lluns are posting.
If those knives could talk.....or show some video replay
of where they been that be even better.
Sure are a lot of peas flying around, hard to read the
posts and keep monitor dried off at same time.
Guess if it was going to happen, a purple pickbone
J. Primble PK w/pliers and a punch would have shown up
by now. And with pswedge o'course.

Thanks Dave,
here's a retake, the Flying Tiger backdrop seems a little too 'busy'
plus the blade washed out some. And the handle might be out of focus a smidgen.
Other than that, the pic came out mint !cough cough

10-4 Wosey that looks wonderful!
I found some nice swedges on a few of my "tactical" knives but since they don't have nicks that can't play here!
