Beautiful knife Dimitri. What is its closed length? Maybe we can determine what pattern number it is. I’m guessing perhaps 8279 (3-1/8 inches) or 079 (3-1/4).

I just measured it Ken, it's 3 1/8" closed.
So thank you for the information I had no idea of the pattern number!

Howdy all. I’m new here. I was looking to buy a whittling knife (a GEC pocket carver if I can get myself to stomach the price) and remembered I had a box with some of my G’pa’s old things. I figured I’d check if there was anything in there that might be good for whittling as well and found these two, among many others. Looks like the one he used is from 1973 and the unused one is from 1974. Pretty cool! Thought some others might get a kick out of seeing them.

Thanks! There was another smaller one I think I’ll use. It’s a #44 pattern. I think it’s from around the 1950s to 60s. Wish me luck!
