Big H . Hope your jaw from your dental work heals up and doesn’t give you much grief.
Been up in “ the north woods “ country fishing . Fishing has been okay. Caught our limit of Crappies .Weather not bad . Smoke from the Canadian fires was bad enough the other day our friend Bob had to leave . Today there’s still a haze in the air . My fishing partner ( Vic) and I are sitting here trying to get from the cabin to the boat and we’re not moving too fast yet . Sometimes you need to just enjoy the moment . Here’s a few pics. The Eagle population here has really grown in the last 10 years or so . They have learned to watch the boats and wait for fish that aren’t going to make it to go belly up and they’ve got an easy meal . It’s an amazing site when they come swooping in after the belly up fish . They will nest in big pines and while watching for food perch on dead trees for better visibility.
You all have a great day out there.
Great pics. Fine mess of crappie 🎣👍🤠

Good morning. Looks to be a fine Friday coming my way. We have a few jobs to try and finish up today and a wedding tomorrow that we might travel to. Otherwise it should be a quiet weekend and I would love that. I took a couple pictures of the stone cabin and the stuga we have been working on and it looks like something out of a fairy tale. I will post them when I remember to bring my camera in from the truck. Have a good Friday._____Dave

Good Mornin'. ::handshake::
71° this morning, sun is in the tops of the tallest pines. Yesterday we had a sprinkle at Starvation Plantation around 3pm. Drove to the barbershop 3 miles away and the roads in town were flooded and there was a closed sign on the barbershop door. Workday day went well, taco salad was great and the short afternoon nap was fine. ::nod:: Nothing planned for today out of the ordinary. Coffee is about to be served.
Y'all have a great day. ::tu::

Good morning Folks . Sure is nice to be home and drinking that first cup of coffee with my wife . Received a package from Steve (LKSKNIVES) and was gifted a few things . Posted that stuff on mail call thread . Have our biggest car show in the valley tomorrow, so will be heading to Brothers shop to help get things ready . Then we have to go mark off the spaces ,set up a few tents tables ,etc. Have plenty of things to do around the house/ yard but that will have to wait till next week .
Ike ,that Club city sign is all that’s left of the old Bar that was on that site many years ago . The owner has it hooked up on a sensor so the light comes on at night . It’s become a beacon of sorts when returning from fishing at night .
Boji. It’s beautiful country up there . If you ever get back up this way you are welcome to hang out w/ us .
Dave up north. Enjoy your lo key weekend .
Missouri Gorilla, really good to see you posting . It’s hard when our pets get old . It’ll take time to recover.
Time to get after it. You all enjoy what you can out there .

Good Morning fellow diners. Another warm sunny day.-

My Florida sister will arrive this afternoon. I think we will take her out for supper.

For the past few weeks, there have been no sightings of groundhogs. My sister launched a poisoning campaign and it appears to have succeeded.

Morning folks, 67 heading to the mid 80's, they are predicting some strong storms coming our way tonight. Every thing that was in our area yestiddy pettered out before it got to Ole Homer's homestead. We are beginning to need some rain. We have already started dragging the water hose around.
Wampus was here last night but hasn't showed this morning.
Got the grass layed by for another week or so, sprayed several gallons of herbicide yestiddy, may put some more down and weedeat a couple of spots this afternoon.
Buddies day at Hooters.
Hope yawl have a good'un and be careful out there. ::handshake::

Good morning gang. I'm currently in the third ward of Milwaukee at a hotel with my wife celebrating 11 years of marriage. We went out to a nice dinner last night at Sanford then had a drink at the hotels roof top bar. Now time for coffee. And this big ol' maple bacon doughnut. Cities in general make my skin crawl, but really the third ward here is pretty relaxed.

Hope you all have a splendid day :D

My wife & I spent some time in the third ward a week ago, no maple donuts, but that sure looks tasty. It is a nice area with well preserved buildings, enjoy your visit!

Good morning . You all must be sleeping in today.
Heading out in a few to get cars to the Cinder city days Event . Besides car show and baseball tournament there’s a carnival and concerts all weekend. Altoona became known as cinder city back when the RR switch yard was very busy in the 1800 s and the old locomotive would bellow there smoke and cinders would fly everywhere. Weather is supposed to be in the 70 s and no rain predicted. It usually rains during the show so this is nice news .
Zach .hope you and the wife enjoyed your Anniversary.
Garry . You and your sister from Florida have a great visit .
Enjoy the weekend everyone !

Mornin' Y'all

Got the grass mowed yesterday morning in anticipation of afternoon storms. Heard great peals of thunder,
but I don't think it rained a drop here. Wife said they got 1.1 inches at her work, which is only 6 miles away !
No set plans for today, other than some laundry.

Yawl have a good 'un
Chris
i woke last night to the sound of thunder
how far off i sat and wondered
started humming a song from nineteen sixty two
aint it funny how the night moves

Good morning. It looks like we are having a decent early morning but a little cloudy. We have a wedding this afternoon for a grand nephew and that should take up most of the day. Yesterday we finished up work on several small jobs including the stone cabin painting the windows and installing a kitchen ceiling. The owners are selling it and asking a quarter million for the cabin and stuga. Our grand parents knew all the original owners including the guy that did the stone work 100 years ago and would be scratching their heads over the cost of things including buildings that they paid around $100 for. A Swedish ship builder built the stuga which has a round roof like a ship. We added the deck and finished the interior in V-groove paneling a few years ago and added a full bath with a tiled walk in shower at that time. I better finish my coffee and get moving. Have a good weekend.____Dave

Good Mornin', Folks.
Dave, did not remember ever hearing or reading the word, stuga. Apparently my tablet didn't know the word either, it changed it to "sugar". Had to look it up, now I know. :) Interesting construction in the pictures.
We're having a sunny morning, yesterday had a 0.2" rain around noon, then we hit 90°. Summer is here. Had a long visit with our neighbor that is using some of our pasture land for his cows. He is an instructor at the local technical college, teaching heavy equipment operation and also does CDL testing. He's talking about retirement. Where does time go? I remember him as a little blonde headed kid rambling around the community years ago. ::shrug::
Washed our 25 year old woods truck for the 1st time in several years. ::facepalm:: Almost looks good again. We bought several new trucks years ago before I realized driving it off the dealer's lot it became a used vehicle. I remember how bad it felt to get the 1st scratches on them in the woods. As long a Miss Joy has a nice vehicle, I can get by with an old truck.
Here we go, rambling again. I reckon that's what old fellers do. ::hmm::
Y'all enjoy the day and be careful out there.

Dave I really enjoy when you are anyone else shares information like this and of course the pictures are always enjoyable. I had never heard the term "stuga" and when I googled it I got mostly flooring ads. Hope everyone has a great weekend and be safe..... :D

Good afternoon. Enjoying my sister's visit. Trying to catch up on things.

We have a family of red foxes living under a dilapidated barn and utilizing previous groundhog burrows. Appears to be a mother and 3 kids.
Here is one photo taken this morning.
