Thank you!
Unfortunately, photos cannot truly capture the spirit of the city. Smells, noise, multi-culture.

Thank you for the tour of Palermo! That cathedral is beautiful as are so many in Europe.

Very nice pictures Eustace. ::tu:: I was there back in 1986 in the Navy but I didn't see as much of the city as you apparently have. ::tu::

Took some photos while driving through the TN. N.C. area of I-40 that was devastated by Hurricane Helene, I've read that they think all lanes will be open by '27, I'm thinking no way, but what do I know.

Pizza looks delicious, Eustace. Best pizza I ever had was from a streetside vendor in Nice, France.

Here’s a before and after picture - I posted the “before” version about three weeks ago but here it is again. Not sure if it’s the same critter but it’s from the same area, within a foot or two. The “after” picture is from this morning.

::hmm:: ... Anyone see the duality of human nature* according to Jung's theory reflected in this picture? ..... ::shrug::

*Carl Jung's personality theory recognizes the duality of human nature, where every good quality has its bad side, and nothing that is good can come into the world without directly producing a corresponding evil13. Jung's theory emphasizes the integration of various aspects of personality to achieve self-realization.

Looks like they might be what's called Sulphur Shelf bighomer. If so, they shouldn't be eaten raw but the new growth can be sautéed in butter. Said to have a chicken-like taste. I am a total amateur and that is just a guess, so assume I am 100% wrong!

Welcome! ::handshake::
The most interesting weapon for me was the sword romphea in the 7th photo. A rare weapon of the Thracians from the Besi tribe. A single-edged sword with a length of 120-160 cm, of which the handle is 50-70 cm.
The few surviving specimens are almost exclusively found in Bulgaria. It was a weapon of elite guards and personal guards. There is information from an ancient Greek author, how the Thracians from Alexander's army, during a battle with the army of an Indian king, cut the trunks of war elephants with their romphes.

Thanks Dennis.
I had no idea, I shy away from eating anything but the wild morels and the farm raised ones I get at grocery.
These sure like the old dying box elder as do the pileated woodpeckers. ::handshake::

Great pictures thanks! ::handshake:: ... There are some interesting documentaries on the battle of Hydaspes*

According to all surviving ancient historical sources, Alexander the Great defeated King Porus of the Indian kingdom of Paurava in the Battle of the Hydaspes in May 326 BC.

Although Alexander was ultimately victorious, Porus and his men fought valiantly. The Battle of the Hydaspes was the closest one Alexander ever came to losing and he was reportedly so impressed by Porus’s valor that he asked him how he wished to be treated. Porus replied that he wished to be treated the way Alexander would have wanted Porus to have treated him. Alexander therefore appointed Porus as satrap of his own kingdom and the lands to the southeast as well.
