Any information?

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

Any information?

Post by Canoesmith »

I know from the stamp it’s from 1932-1940. But I cannot find any other Case fixed blade online with these green celluloid flat scales. Was hoping someone could tell me more about this knife. It was my great uncles and was passed down to me. TIA.

Case called that material imitation pearl. Your knife looks like a model 964 which was offered with either “greenish imitation pearl celluloid” or “cracked ice celluloid”. The 964 has flat celluloid handle slabs, no pommel, and a blade length of 8 inches. If you can provide a measurement of the blade length, it would help greatly. According to information in Sargent’s Premium Guide to Knives 7th Edition the 964 first appeared in the January 1934 price list and last appeared in the January 1942 price list. It was not offered in later price lists. (Just for future reference, even though those dates may be published somewhere there are no Case factory or other records of when that stamp was used, so “from the stamp it’s from 1932-1940” is unsubstantiated speculation).
