Yes it is very early in the XX era nice knife. I guess you could call it a transition knife.

My latest Wolfertz from the Easton show is a ringer for the Schrade Cutlery Co. No. 2563 in the ' E ' catalog.

That's early jigging on that one Fran. Could be pre-WWI, IMO.

Very nice bunch of knives. My collecting focus has been to get at least one example of all the knives that "I FEEL" are in some way related to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Therefore when I have several Baldwins in my collection already, "unless I feel the latest one is a vast improvement upon the example that I have" I tend to pass on them.

I have to admit that my collecting has slowed considerably in the last two years as my collection has grown and my list of WANTS gets increasingly smaller. I look for the elusive Smethport cutlery and several from Pittsburgh with no luck for quite sometime. I thoroughly enjoy this thread and hope it continues.

This one isn't as old as the lovely cutlery contraptions you'uns posted but it is from PA.
Says so right on the tang, Imagine that.
CASE Rog6207D, tang dated 1990.
Has 1992 on left bolster since it was the 1992 annual
Cofer Brothers issue.
CB stamped into right bolster and "Cofer Bros." Clip etch.

Fortunately (I believe) Trappers do not "trip my trigger".

Yeah, I'm not a trapper fan either.
More a Jack & Stockman sort a guy.
But all the makers create SOOOO
many trappers it's just about impossible
not to acquire any.
Like trying to run in the rain and not get wet.

Thank a lot S-K. There's sure plenty to see and learn here. I know there was/is several knife manufactures in Pennsylvania, mostly in the western part of the state from what I gather so far. I think they turned out some nice knives, time do do some research!

Here's my latest purchase a C. F. WOLFERTZ & CO ALLENTOWN PA. 3 -5/8" Swell End or Teardrop
all steel except for shield and pins. Schrade made most likely I think UpNorth has an old arch stamped cut co. that is a dead ringer for this one.
Took a quick pic of it today, when I have more time I may take some better pics.
