gyuto 2

Post by hellize »

Another variation of the same theme. A Gyuto.
I started to grow an affinity towards these japanese knives 😊
I forged it of 5160 carbon steel.
The handle is made of stabilized wood and water buffalo horn.
It is 36 cm long with a 22 cm long blade. The blade is 5.5 cm wide with a maximum thickness of 6 mm at the bolster.
It has a full flat grind.

As usual the craftsmanship is exceptional. ::tu::

I'm curious to know what the primary purpose would be for this knife. Am I correct in assuming it would be primarily focused on slicing tasks related to food preparation, or is there something else I'm overlooking?

You are right. it is for slicing, since it's quite a slim blade, but you can also crush garlic for example with its mirror :D
