Empty sheath seeks compatible mate

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

Empty sheath seeks compatible mate

Post by TrickyRick »

A bit OCD of me perhaps, but from my dad's knife stuff I found it odd that this Case sheath had a Schrade 227UH in it. He says the original Case knife was one that was lost during a house burglary in the early to mid 1980s. Sometime later my youngest brother replaced the knife because dad told him that it was close to the original Case knife. I'm not finding any two blade Case folding hunter that would be of that size. If I could find aa proper Case knife it would be great, if I'm headed down a rabbit hole please let me know.

I believe a Case 6265SS would be the Case that you are looking for.

I still think it would be a miss match. The 2 blade hunters that have sheaths that I have seen are pointy on the bottom and the knives go in tip down.

It just seems like the wrong shaped sheath for that knife but a quick eBay search for 6265ss shows they came with both styles.

I suspect that sheath is one that was used for other Case knives too. You may find there are other matches.

Man I hate thieves. They take so much more than just the items All these years later and that SOB is still causing you grief.

The "round toe" leather belt sheath that eveled described is the older style, circa late 50's til 1977.

Case switched to the sheath shown in the original post - "square toe" basket weave in 1977-78 for all large folders, including the Shark Tooth, Hammerhead, and the 6265 folding hunter. The current sheath is similar in shape but is smooth leather.

Thanks for the information folks, searched e-bay and saw images of the 6265 and quite a few with very same sheath with basket weave. I'll check the AAPK stores to see if I can find a 6265 without sheath.
