Need Help With ID of 1920-40 Case XX Folding Knife With Swing Guard
Need Help With ID of 1920-40 Case XX Folding Knife With Swing Guard
Hello All. This knife has me stumped. Maybe it's an easy ID for experienced Case collectors. This lock back folding knife has a tang stamp that dates from 1920-1940 (CASE TESTED XX) and a swing guard. There is no model number or any other marks on the blade. The scales appear to be jigged bone attached with 3 brass pins. There is no Case shield on the scales. I don't think a shield was previously present and came off, as there are no pin holes or other marks on the scales to suggest something detached. The knife measures about 6 3/8" open (2 3/4" blade) and 3 1/2" closed. The bolsters are made of nickel silver and it has brass liners. Does anyone know what model number this Case knife is? I've been researching online without success. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

I'm no expert, but there are many problems with this knife that tells me it is a total fake (blade and bone jigging is wrong amongst other things). You can google "Case tested 6111" or "Case 1920 6111" to see what this knife should look like if it were a legit 6111 1/2 pattern.

Thanks Kevin. Well, it's no wonder it had me stumped. I didn't even consider a fake. It seems well made, but certainly didn't match anything I could find online. Now I'm wondering about the other 2 knives I bought from that collection! I appreciate your expertise.

I agree, fake.

No doubt a more recent counterfeit. None of the knife's features match that of an any actual Case Tested knife. As is often is the case, looks new because it is new.
If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.

Thanks everyone. I'll have to chalk this one up to a learning experience. It was an impulse buy at an auction, so not a lot of time to do advance research. I bought 2 other Case knives that day from the same collection that I am now questioning. I'll post photos of those soon. I appreciate you all taking the time to educate me.
