Mystery - unknown pattern

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

Mystery - unknown pattern

Post by Mumbleypeg »

I’ve acquired a knife I can’t figure out, so hoping someone here can help. I bought it mainly for the somewhat rare stamp, thinking it was a 62001F.

However I got it home and while cleaning and photographing it, I measured it. It is 2-7/8 inches long. I measured it three times! The books say a 62001 or 6201 should be 2-5/8 inches. As far as I can tell the knife has all the usual traits of being a Case, but I don’t find a 2-7/8 inch Case 2-blade pen anywhere. ::shrug::

Thoughts?

Ken

Edit: NM, I figured it out, it’s a 6261F. I’m used to seeing the 61 pattern with a cuticle blade secondary. This one has a file.

A 62103 is a 2 7/8" pen knife. Not sure if that's what your knife is as I don't have a picture of an example. More likely a 6261F as that knife is shown with tip bolsters and a file blade. Nice knife!
If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.

May be a 6261F.

Thanks to all who replied - it is indeed a 6261, confirmed by comparing it to other 61 patterns I have (all of which have a cuticle secondary). This is the only one I’ve seen with a file blade as its secondary. When I got it I was thinking 62001 so it threw me when it measured too long. ::dang::

I’m happy with it though, especially having other 61s already. ::super_happy::

Thanks. I’m happy to have it. (Even though I did buy it while thinking it was something else). ::sotb::
