I have recently bought this knife at a antique store. It says on the blade j.clarke & son as sheffield I've always been curious how old it was , every time I look online I cand find any Information.

In 1848, 43 year old John Clark launched a cutlery business in Neepsend.
John Clark dies in 1873. Six workmen employed.
By 1881 his son, Thomas, expands the number of workmen to twenty.
Thomas Clark dies in 1902 and his three sons continue a thriving business until 1964 when the firm was liquidated.
Apparently resurrected and lasted until 1980.
