Dear to my Heart
From the early days of collecting Schrade knives, i have had a special affinity with their CLASP knife.
It is a huge knife with a long wide blade, which is normally deep etched with a relevant theme. The covers are usually beautiful fat Sambar Stag, all of which fits beautifully into the hand.
Apart from the standard Clasps they are open to some magnificent modifications, like some of the modern handle materials that are available and the "Piece De Resistance" is some superb file-work performed by a master craftsman, once again mine were performed by Herman Williams.
These Clasps are the Jewels of my collection, and the one front and centre is the very rare $1,000 Clasp. This dozen knives bring me a lot of joy.
I do hope you enjoy them as much as i do.
Tony.

That's a knife that's so dear, that you clasp it to your breast in adoration and shed a tiny tear of gratitude.TripleF wrote:Gorgeous!! What's a clasp?

A CLASP is a LARGE folding knife, with the emphasis on large. The Schrade clasp is 5 1/2" closed, and weighs about 9oz. depending on the Stag fitted.
The open length is 9 3/4". These ingredients make for a large blade to accommodate a large etch area and a handle area to display the most beautiful cover material available.
I hope this has enlightened you, and that you will now be on the lookout for a $1,000 Clasp. LOL.

Tony - I have looked at this thread a few times and every time I get ready to comment I just cannot think of any words to express just how nice your collection looks. Thanks for posting the photos!

Re: Dear to my Heart
1967redrider, thanks for that (I'll use my phone next time to enlarge) Currently on the Bay, a Trail of Tears "Blade" only and I wondered what it would look like "assembled", only issue now that beauty is the top of my "[want" list
