Beautiful shots of the desert, Dog! Oh how I wish I was in your shoes. And your post definitely puts us back on track. I enjoy our bantering back and forth as much as the next guy, but I'm thinking we should maybe do it by PM instead of side-tracking the OP's topic, don't you agree? ::shrug:: 8)

Wife and I took another hike in the National Forest yesterday. This Kerhaw flipper is what I always take with me.

Uwharrie National Forest around Troy, NC. Lots and lots of trails from maybe a half mile long to 25 miles or so. We generally do 4-5 miles on a hike which takes us, with stops, about 2.5 to 3 hours. Unintentionally went 8 miles one day, but that was a bit much, at least for an afternoon walk.

I must have good eyes Dog, I spotted that beautiful ZT knife in the first picture immediately, and it sure wasn't easy with all that lovely desert scenery around. 8)

It is a Gila monster. ::skeptic:: The Gila monster is one of only a handful of venomous lizards in the world. They are native to southern Arizona, but very hard to find or see as they spend a lot of their life underground. They can store food in their big fat tail and after eating a nest full bird eggs they can hang out in thei den for months. They can live for 20-30 years. ::suspense::
