I think that the sellers use of 'Wharncliffe' is click bait in this instance.

I've noticed that very often sellers will call any master blade that has a perfectly straight cutting edge (i.e., no "belly," recurve, etc.) and a downward sloping tip end is called a "Wharncliffe" - I don't think it's intended to trick people so much as ignorance of the difference between a Wharncliffe, a Sheepfoot and a Lambfoot (which, to be fair to non-knife fanatics like us, may be too subtle to notice and/or care about).

Then there's the class of "modified Wharncliffes" (such as is on the Kershaw Leek, to name just one well-known example) which only muddies the nomenclature waters even more.

Picked this up from 313 Mike, nice knife, fit and finish is good the deep carry clip allows it to sit down in the pocket good.

Really nice C-W! I've admired Civivi knives for awhile and always mean to buy a couple, but every time I go to pull the trigger I spot something else I like better, so I still don't own any at this point. I'm find myself attracted to their button-lock models, so perhaps not too long now before I finally buy one.

That's a beauty Nev, no matter what the correct name for the blade is. I almost bought one like yours, but at the last second went with this one, and according to Jerry's chart it was correctly described as having a Lambfoot blade.

Jerry, This was the sellers answer to question of blade shape. This was his response. A Wright’s Wharncliffe blade is rounded as the top of the blade curves towards the point…The lambsfoot blade is angled, without the curve…I have the factory use extended bolsters so the knife has Barlow characteristics…Thank you, Jim

Nice pair Jerry. The CBS covers on your H/H appear much richer looking than in the picture Tim took of his, or perhaps it's just the lighting. You know I like your new MTech strictly on it's size alone, but it sure looks like a solid well-built bowie too.

Thanks Nev, I appreciate your kind words. The difference between us is that you buy your knives to actually put them to work, whereas I only accumulate for collection purposes and rarely use any of my knives, so it stands to reason you'd opt for the knife you did, and likewise for me. They're both great knives so it's a definite win-win for us!

Nev! I forgot to ask you, my knife has an opening pull of probably close to 10, along with a fingertip losing closing detent that's likely a similar number, does your knife have the same? Thx!

Consider this A Wright & Son "Senator" (purchased on eBay) that has either a Wharncliffe or a Lambfoot blade depending on how strictly the specific definitions are interpreted & applied.

This is what I consider a Lambfoot...although after Lansky1 finished modifying it, we couldn't decide if it was more Lamb- or Sheepfoot, so we called it a "Shlambsfootrat" to to cover all the bases! (the "rat" suffix because it's a Muskrat pattern!)

I would say it is a little stout. Maybe a 8 both ways.But I am no expert.

YES it does. It's so strong, in fact, that I can't open it with my (weak) fingernails, so I have to use the old folded business card trick or a steel opening tool to open it and it's still quite strong. I did flood the joint with Quick Release and spent about 15 mins working it open & closed, but that only flushed out a bunch of black grit and made the opening smoother, but not necessarily easier.
