Re: Real Picture
Oh no!
Why couldn't I have known you then, I love Vegas! If you do ever go back please let me know, we can be roommates! I'll start building my Blackjack kitty right now! Last time I was there in 2001 I left US$375,000. with them that I'd been VERY lucky to acquire, and haven't seen anything close to that since! I went with a plan to be extremely responsible playing Texas Hold-Em' ONLY, during the nights, and maybe a little Blackjack to recoup any losses, and play golf and go to the Spa during the day. Four months later I had to wire a buddy in Palm Springs to send me bus fare home!
I was treated like a King at the MGM for 4 months though, and it only cost me US$375,000.!
I'd do better this time though!
! Suuure I would! lol!

Jeez Dog, that's an ugly cut. I hope you'll treat it with something better than duct-tape. To answer your question, yes, they gave me free drinks a favorite of mine being ordering a bottle of Stoli on ice surrounded by a dozen MGD's, free smokes, free lobster and steak breakfasts/free pancake and bacon lunches/and free shrimp and more steak dinners or anything else I could think of, free women, free transportation, free luxury suites, free concert tickets to the Stones and Kid Rock, free sympathy comments on how bad the cards were running, free pat-on-the-back comments of what a good gambler I am, free phone calls which actually is a big deal in Vegas, and other stuff I'm sure I'm forgetting, and it only cost me freely gambling my money away in $25. increments or better! Free huh, that word ought to be outlawed in Las Vegas!

Yep, that's commonly referred to as "bout' even", and I've been there done that too.

Re: Real Picture
I like your attitude Dog.
You're an old rounder from way back, jus' like me.
I know what you mean about Vegas food, and that made all the perks they gave me even sweeter. I too remember the days when you could get steak n' 3 eggs for $.49 and great steak dinners for $2.99, now it's stand in line for half an hour for the privilege of paying stupid prices for sub-par food. I'm afraid those days are long gone, along with the hope they'll ever return. Nowadays the place is operated like a circus or Disneyland, run by corporate ringmasters who know absolutely zero about catering to the wants and needs of their customers. In the good ole' days your hotel rep would offer perks to their customers automatically, now you need to request any extra services and then wait while they figure out if you're gambling enough to cover what you've asked for, and if not you face an unapologetic "No". At one point in my life I thought I'd be visiting Vegas at least once a year, now, if I never go back I doubt I'll miss it.

Apparently trying to stab a razor sharp 4" blade knife through a plastic bed liner after a full day of partying is not a good idea. the little and ring finger were dangling by the skin of the knuckles and the middle finger flipped over backwards. I said "after I finish my beer, I need a ride to the hospital". That happened in 2001.

AAh, the good old days, huh Eric! It somehow makes me feel better that the cuts are over 20 yrs. old, to see your picture one would think they're fresh wounds. The damage you described sounds quite serious, do you have full functioning of that hand and fingers? If there's a good side to this it would be, that's a mistake you'll likely never make again, next time you'll use a better knife! lol!

It took the best orthopedic surgeon 9 hours to patch up which included reconstruction of the nerves. I have about 95% use and feeling. The pain was intense for about a year. After 21 years, it still hurts when I think about it. Brain blocks the pain otherwiseMadmarco wrote: ↑Wed Jan 18, 2023 6:16 pm AAh, the good old days, huh Eric!
