A Buck 301. ... I got a little surprise taking this picture today...

I turned around to put the knife in the shade to take a picture of the maker's mark. I heard a noise in the brush and turned to find some new desert "friends" You can see the clay head in the back ground and how close the nearest Javelina is to me from my shadow in the picture. There were at least 6 of them poking around.

Like me they must like Buck knives...

Dan, how do like the green synthetic handle on the Opinel No. 6? I have several older ones all wooden handles and I like the look of the new handles.

Per Opinel, that handle is hornbeam.

I like it pretty well. The color tint has a tiny bit of texture to it. Other sizes have better color choices, though, especially the No. 8.

I made an addition to the carry: the 33OT I purchased from GSPTOPDOG last year.

I did some more research on the wood, but mainly found out that Hornbeam is the strongest and healthiest wood that can be given to dogs. However, I would not recommend allowing your Opinel #6 to be used as a chew for a bored canine for any number of reasons. At any rate, I think it makes the #6 "Pop" as them youngsters say now-a-days An awesome EDC

As a side note the 33OT is looking good too!

That is a very nice one as well!! I wouldn't know the maker, but it sure is a sweet knife!!

The Maserin has some killer bones QS. Is that Camel bone? Love the splotchy mottled look. Cool blade profile too, looks kind of like a Spearcliffe or something.

Iman, I believe the Maserin scales to be wood, possibly cocobolo based on their frequent use of it.

Redrider that is a nice Keen Kutter! It inspired me to get out my Clauss dogleg jack.
