Now how many of you say Tidioute correctly? Being so closeby it's just normal for the locals here to pronounce it, but I imagine if you've never heard it before it would be complicated.

Tiddyoot, been there too, sadly the locals I spoke to had no idea there was ever a cutlery factory in their town and there are no ruins of the old factory.

Tidd-ee-oot is how I say it. I think I remember looking it up several years ago because I had no idea how to pronounce it.

A few years back my dad and I went to the Florida Keys to do some fishing for tuna and marlin, and everyone knew we weren't from the area after pronouncing the S in Islamorada, FL. Makes sense after thinking about it, as you don't pronounce the S in "island". But at the time I hadn't thought it through.

A friend has an old Cattaraugus sales pamphlet that states the proper pronunciation is Cat-a-raw-goose. I have been there several times and nobody in the town of Cattaraugus or Cattaraugus county pronounces it that way these days.
