Any Zippo Collectors Here?

Post by Paladin »

Guys,
In my last batch of stuff I purchased I got this lighter which came in a Zippo box. Both sides of the lighter have Navy and the insignia anchor coated in what looks to be acrylic. Nowhere on the lighter as far as I can tell does the brand name 'Zippo' appear. I haven' t carried a lighter since it was cool to do so in junior high and high school.
It does seem to be a good quality lighter but does Zippo not put their stamp on the product anywhere? There is nothing on the bottom, as per the photo. There are some warnings on the internal sides but nowhere does Zippo appear.
It measures 1½" X 2¼" .
As always, any help appreciated,
Ray

Ray,

All the Zippos I have are marked on the bottom plus they have a dating system, kind of like Case's dot system. So I'm at a loss. ::shrug::

I thought so. I guess someone just stuck a knock off in a Zippo box.
Thanks for confirming.

The two Zippo lighters I have and all the ones I’ve seen are stamped Zippo if I’m not mistaken.

Ray a true Zippo will be marked on the bottom and also on the insert if you pull it out of the casing. On some Zippo’s that have a matte finish the coating is so thick you can’t read the bottom, but the insert should be easy to read. I got a John Deere the other day that was a knock off.

True. Fortunately, they started using a laser to remove the buildup of coating on the bottom. I forget when they started that, but it was pretty recently.
