Dog was chewing on something as I sipped my morning coffee on the porch today.
Subsequent investigation revealed a semi-petrified coyote head. He is on his last legs and never wanders off the property, so he got it close to the house. Mystery as to how he came about it. Bought a pig skull at the flea from my niece that is stained and dremeled with tribal designs. Finished pig head and soon to be wall hanger Coyote head that she will do up for me...

Looks to be a giant yote.

Picture of a nice green good looking lawn, right? This lawn was nice and green last spring, but the owner had signed up for a local lawn service to do a "treatment" on his lawn to fertilize and kill the weeds and have a great looking lawn all summer. Instead it has looked like this all summer. Back at the end of April, a local lawn service went out and serviced 302 customers lawns. After a week or so it became apparent that something had gone terribly wrong. Turns out this small business lawn service with the owner and one employee had made a big mistake. Turns out the one employee had mixed the wrong chemicals in the tank and went out and treated 302 lawns with something that killed the grass. The owner of the business had stated that the grass would come back on its own by the end of the summer, but judging from this picture today, not so much. There was talk of a lawsuit that would have forced the business to resod all 302 lawns, imagine what that would cost! The company attempted to sue their business insurance to cover the losses, but were unsuccessful. They discontinued their lawn service as of July 1. Quite the mess.

Right you are Charlie. I was not one of the 302, I have done my own for years, did step 3 today. If you look closely at the picture I posted, you will notice that not only did the employee use the wrong chemicals, but also applied it horribly uneven. There is everything on that lawn from bare dirt to green grass. Amazingly enough, the employee did not lose his job over that mistake. Still it must be costing his boss thousands of dollars.

That's a sad mess where the wrong herbicide was used. The picture seems to indicate that the dark green growth up by the house is the same as the green on the street side of the sidewalk. Whatever it was, it was not a non-selective herbicide as certain weeds or grass are still green.
I used to spray a material that was called a pre-emergent herbicide that would kill everything but the just planted soybeans according to the label. One of my farming buddies said he wanted to use what was left of the material to spray his newly planted pea patch (Southern cow peas), I told him I didn't think it would work but he said sure it will, soybeans and peas are both legumes. Right where the spray material ran out is where his peas began to sprout.
Herbicides are usually very specific in what they do, and they are not all the same.
Just my 2 cents on the above picture.

I went back and read some local archival news reports from last April when this happened and it was indicated that the chemical mistakenly used was Roundup.

Good example of one reason I do not use chemicals of any kind. I've been organic for about 30 years. All that stuff Charlie mentioned ain't on my list and won't be found on my property. If it's made by Scott's, Bayer or Monsanto I don't buy it or use it. There are perfectly good organic products and methods for every pest control or fertilization need, and they're more economical to use. Rarely ever can you accidentally over-apply an organic product to the extent it will be harmful to plants, animals or people.

For a healthy lawn mulch your grass clippings and leaves back into your yard (use mulching mower), apply corn gluten meal twice a year, early spring and fall (if applied at the right time, which will vary depending on where you live, it's a pre-emergent weed killer and a 9-0-0 fertilizer in one). Between the decomposing lawn clippings and corn gluten meal , that's generally all the fertilizer you need. If you want to supplement it use an organic fertilizer. Those generally have a formula something like 4-6-4 or similar. You can apply it any time of year - you're enriching the soil, not feeding the plants. Your plants will get what they need from that soil. And you won't have to mow as often due to having applied high nitrogen chemical fertilizers.

No, I'm not a "greenie" tree hugger, (I dont believe in man-made global warming either). But I do care about the environment and especially the grass and water where my family lives, and what my animals eat and drink. I'll not be polluting it with chemical fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides.

How's this for a fixed blade?
Been wanting to post this for awhile, but never got around to it. Got this from a neighbor in Kansas City who recently passed away. She gave it to my father as she had no use for it. Have no idea where she got it. My dad was going to hang it up in his garage but never did it. I'll find a place for it at our new home.

I haven't done any work on my trailer in a while. Decided to add a spare tire mount. The tire used to be mounted on the front, but I had to remove it when I put the box on the tongue.

I am not much of a metal worker - thankfully that black paint does a great job of hiding my really ugly welding.

While I was on this last knife hunting trip I also found a saw blade clock for $5. So I've cleaned it up the best I can without removing any of the clock stencil, put on new clock works and placed it in it's new home.

Also I got 2 of these new LED garage lights with 6 adjustable panels; It is 250 Watts and an output power of up to 25,000 Lumens. Each panel can be adjusted in any position vertical 90°and/or horizontal 350°. They are very bright.
