Hawk Bill H&S W king NY warranted 1873
This came up from Kentucky traded for food at a small store, sold to my father then to me. That is all I know about the knife. If you look at the picture you will know as much as I.

You have a hard to find knife. H & J W King were importers in New York from 1857-1876 according to Goins' and Francis Witte sold knives marked that way after that. I have attached a few pictures of some paperwork that confirms that. The King billhead is 1865 and the Witte billhead is dated 1885. Notice on the Witte one that it has 2 addresses 106 Chambers St and 116 Rockingham Street Sheffield. Also on the Witte is a picture of the King trademark that is etched on 2 knives that I have also pictured. The little pearl is marked H. & J. W. King New York Warrented and the Stag Congress is marked H. & J. W. King New York Superior.
Notice on the stag knife that the pulls go through the tangs on all the blades and that on the larger blades there are pulls on both sides. The stag also has shields on both sides of the knife. When this knife was made it was a special piece.
Thanks for showing yours.
