Benchmade USA knife

Post by Meigscl »

A guy at work had a benchmade half serrated knife and he said it was no good and he could not sharpen it. I told him I thought they were good knives and he said "Give me 5 bucks for it". I did :)

The question I have is how do I sharpen the knife? Do you just sharpen the serrated part on the flat back part or is this not advised?

I figured 5 bucks for a benchmade had to be a good deal. I would not normally buy one but a good deal is a good deal.

I think spyderco makes a sharpener for serrations or a round diamond stone is what I used depending on the type of serrations.

Buck has one too. The serrations may have different sizes, so a sharpener really must be tapered to fit them.
I must admit that I have no experience sharpening serrated edges. I may be old fashioned, but I prefer straight edges except for blades made for some specific purposes…

How do you feel about serrated edges?

One of the catalogs, Jantz I think it is sells round Arkanasa stones. Lansky also makes a serrated hone. Quite a few ways to go about it. ::tu::
