Knife Software - Knife Collector

I have been collecting Case knives for forty or more years. Six years ago I retired after working as a computer programmer for more years than I care to remember. Recently I have written a computer program to keep track of all my knives. I had been asked by other collectors (my son included) to make this available to all knife collectors. You can look at it on the web site http://www.ewillieware.com You can download it if you would like to try it out.

The unregistered version will hold 25 knives which gives you a chance to try it before you buy it ($24.95). Since I put it out as shareware I have updated four times and will put update five out soon. All of these contain enhancements suggested by users. Thank you for looking.

First I would like to welcome you to the forum. It appears that you may have a lot to offer all of us here. I looked over your link on the software. I thought it was great but could you create a version that was geared more towards the generic version. I have very few CASE knives and all of my knives are much older than most. The version would need a place for dates, descriptions and other useless information that I can't get enough of. With a little refinement, I think it could included fixed blade knives too. I think you really have something there and would love to purchase a version that was more to my style of collecting. JMO

I tried to make the program as flexible as possible. It is not limited to Case or folding blade knives. The only requirement is a unique pattern number. In cases where there is no pattern number many "Knife Collector" users are simply making up a pattern. There is a place for manufacture and purchase year. In most cases I have found that you cannot obtain a manufacture date other than the year. There is a comment field which is 255 characters long into which you may enter anything you desire. I would suggest you download the program and read the user's manual which is downloaded with it. You may try it (up to 25 knives) and see if it fits your sitituation. The data for manufactirer, handle materials, collections (the manuel explains this term), patterns numbers and description, blade marks, and condition are all enter by you. This gives you quite a bit of control over the program.
