It was my privilege to text back and forth with Roland on several occasions. Bought a few knives from him and enjoyed his knowledge. Always fair on purchases

Roland was always trying to learn about things he didn’t know, never ashamed to ask a question or share his thoughts. I think he sometimes asked seemingly naive questions (to which he already knew the answer or already had an opinion) for the sake of being the ”devil’s advocate” and getting a discussion started.

He was somewhat of an authority on German-made knives, answering many members’ questions about them. We are all the poorer for his passing.

Roland could be a little opinionated sometimes but I guess we all are. He had some great knives and was very generous to deal with. I enjoyed him.

like fine wine Floyd, Roland was an acquired taste but once acquired, he was a blast to hang out with. I miss him greatly at times, especially when researching a knife.

I agree with bestgear on this. I spatted with Roland once but we overcame that and I bought quite a few knives from him. I also picked his generous brain where he stored a great deal of knife knowledge. RIP Roland.

I was fortunate to be able to visit with Roland in person, at his home, on two occasions. He had a lot great knives and I purchased quite a few from him. He was always more than fair with his prices and very generous in always throwing in an extra knife. All of the previously posted comments regarding Roland are certainly appropriate.
