I'd never heard of this brand before, much less had a knife, until this past weekend at a gun show where I set up with knives. This one was in a few dollar box on a guys table. That check ran all the way across the top of the federal shield. I could hardly pull the blade out and the second blade was as tight; a good sign. The Enders logo was on both blades, there was a 1/2 stop. Both opened and closed with a crushing snap so it looked like I had something to play with at the show. Once home, I polished it up, sealed the check and looked up Enders. He had a long history with Shapleigh. Starting as a stock clerk, then salesman in 1870 to 75, and finally the vice president of Simmons Hdw. while running his own parallel hardware business. He took time out to serve in the Union army during the Civil War. So, here is the knife, a dog leg, the pearl held down by three nickel pins, 1/2 stops and nearly full blades for a knife made in the 1880s; oh and his knives were made by Walden Knife Co.
