Re: Domed pin
I make and use domed pins all the time and these are the only pin heads that I like to use now. Here's a pic of a couple of oldies with domed pins that I just finished restoring.

Re: Domed pin
Thanks Herb. I figured that's what they were. I have some old Uticas with those pins that are actually recessed in a sort of countersunk hole in the bones.

Re: Domed pin
Sorry, here's a better pic of those two (from the mark side, and with clean hands). The scales on the single blade cammy were completely toast, so I replaced them with brown burlap micarta and gave the knife the full treatment and now it snaps like the devil!

Re: Domed pin
Hi Coley. For rounded pin heads I put the pin in a vise with pieces of wood on each side of the pin, holding it very firmly, and then gently hammer the end of the pin going around in a circle until the pin head is the size I want. (I like to use the rounded "ball" end of the hammer for this.) Then I spin the pin between my finger tips holding the rounded end of the pin against a small polishing wheel loaded with compound until the rounded head is smooth and shiny the way I want it. It might be a little tricky at first, but once you do it a few times it's quite easy. Let me know if this doesn't made sense buddy.

Pivot pins can also be domed, as I did on this custom Imperial Barlow.
