Post-1989 Camillus Stockman Knives with Buck 300-Style Bolsters

I have two post-1989 Camillus stockman knives with the mirror diagonal bolsters I associate with Buck 300-series knives. As the accompanying photo shows, the large Camillus stockman is close to identical to a Buck 307; the small Camillus stockman is close to identical to a Buck 303.

Neither Camillus knife has a swedge on the clip blade like the Bucks. Otherwise, the blade profiles of all three Camillus blades are the same as those on the Bucks. The scales on both appear to be Delrin (or a generic copy.) Interestingly, the small Camillus stockman has three rivets on each side like Schrade-made pre-1972 Bucks, but the bolster is pinned like the later Bucks. And the tang stamp on the small Camillus isn’t a stamp – it’s etched.

I don’t see these knives in any Camillus catalogs I’ve searched on the internet. Does someone here have any knowledge regarding the background of these knives? I’m guessing there’s a 301-equivalent somewhere. I’m still searching for that one.

I don't know the agreement that Buck had with Camillus as regards the ownership of the tooling for Bucks patterns. But I know, based on my conversations with the late Tom Williams, the Camillus historian, that if Camillus owned the tooling, they had the right to use that tooling to produce knives under their own brand. If the contracting company paid for the tooling, then they owned it and Camillus could not use it to produce their brand. The green and yellow handled Camillus in your first picture were knives originally made for Remington, but Camillus owned the tooling to produce that pattern, which they did after they had produced the original run for Remington.
It is possible that Camillus did the same thing with some of the Buck tooling after they had stopped producing knives for Buck.

That's an interesting knife, I know that Camillus had an end of day's similar to what happened at Schrade, though I don't believe it was quite to that extent. However, there were a lot of Camillus parts sold through a Smokey Mt and Blue River as well as on eBay. I have seen a number of knives that I believe were assembled from parts after Camillus closed. Your knife could be an example of that.
Nice looking knife though, definitely a keeper! I like those green and yellow delrin handles, I wish they had made more of them!
