What kind of bone is this?

I also have this in "Mail pickups" but I have a different question here. These appear to be horn handles or scales, is there anyway to tell if they are Buffalo or not? She's a pretty little thing other than someone cut one of the blades out but I didn't find out till I got it, in contact with the seller.

Hi Richard - Horn can feel more tactile and less "perfect" than polished plastic. It may feel similar to a fingernail (which is also a keratin-based material like horn).

I can't thank you enough for the comments! I was 99% sure it was horn but I think you have helped me to make it 100%. It is smooth, but with a slight texture feel to it. I am definitely going to keep it even though it is missing a blade. It is a German SMF Garantie knife.

I believe it is cattle horn, because of the streaks of color. Most water buffalo horn is solid black, from my experience. Cattle horn looks much better on a knife, to me.
