Remington - Nehi Leg Knife

Hello,

I found a Remington Nehi leg knife in a parking lot and am wondering if anyone is able to tell if this is a legit 1980s Remington reproduction or not. I read the article from Dennis Ellington, so I know it’s not an original 1920’s model, but am not sure how to tell if it’s an 80s repro or not.

It's a little complex--it can go down to even some of the patterning on the scale.

But, usually the quickest way to determine if the knife is real is the heel in the boot. The inside of the originals had a small hook that allowed it to lift up a metal bottle cap (crown cap) in order to open the bottle. Most (if not all) of the reproductions don't. Also, I've never seen a real one with a stainless blade.

I saw one locally almost a decade ago, and got a pretty good education here that allowed me to determine that it was 100% fake. Seller claimed it was from the '20s...

I collect the licensed Remington reproductions made by Camillus from the early 1980s through 2006. It is not one of them. Camillus is the only manufactuer I am aware of that was licensed to use Remington's trade mark on pocket knives during the 1980s.

I don't think they were either. Seem to recall it was either Frost or Parker that marketed these at the time.
