Custom 9" brazilian horn swinguard with red dot

Post by Folgore1 »

been tinkering around lately with making handles making stainless liners custom making bolsters etc... here one of my recent creations ( Folgore Knives Creations) , started out china made Akc swinguard with imitation ivory handles which i removed and replaced with beautiful genuine Brazilian cowhorn handles with red dot safety , safety was lowered 1/2" , from the factory the safety sits at 1" below firing button i made it where the safety sits at 1-1/2" below button which gives knife more sleeker older classic look and red dot just sets it off great in my opinion , i had to totally re-design the safety to be longer than factory safety, liners and edge of liners sanded up to 600 grit , backspring and butt were sanded up to 2500 then polished with green rouge on buffer , bottom bolster pin is brass like old time swinguards were . overall turned out great looks good all around , lastly i Renaissance waxed it to keep finger prints off it ::tu::

Great work, it sure looks like a high end product now, and I totally agree on the red dot. The only thing that would ice the cake for me is a diamond shaped button.

Thanks, it was alot more time and work involved than i thought , tearing it apart they are basicly the exact same knife as AKC italian made but this one was made in china only real difference between the china made and Italian made is the spring (round spring on china made) (flat spring on italian made) , and the button mechanism which is more beefier and thicker than italian button mechanisms , also china made had the button mechanism screwed to liner not pinned like italians do so real easy to remove and replace if you have to . some people knock these china made knives because of country they come from but they really not much difference than a real italian and for click therapy they are awesome ::tu:: got a few more customs im working on i will share pics when i get them done .
