Othello Original Bowie knife
I'm trying to get some info on this knife, the web has several different knives with original Bowie knife stamped on the blade however this appears to be much older. Any information will be appreciated.

Handsome looking knife. Levine's Guide shows this manufacturer dated 1888-1996 with a medium value assigned. I would guess your knife was made c. 1950's or later. Most of the knives I've seen marked "Original Bowie Knife" have been made in Germany. "Original Bowie Knife" is a catch phrase that has little to do with actual Bowie knives from the 1800's.
If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.

That is indeed one fine looking knife!
Often, when I have found these they have been used and even abused. Yours is a nice looking piece. I think Wayne has given you an accurate history of the knife.
Goin's says the Othello brand used by Anton Wingen dates circa 1923 to present. Goin's book was copyrighted in 1998, so there is a 27 year lapse since that information was written.

That is a fine example. I’ve seen a few over the years and that is in remarkable shape.

Thanks for the information, a local friend of mine said that it was possibly from the 30s or 40s because it doesn't say rostfrei on the blade.
