Edge Company kit issue

I have a 1980s vintage (I think) Model 120 switchblade kit with blue scales that I cannot assemble. Try as I may, I can't get the spring to slide into position as per the instruction sheet. I don't know if the spring is malformed, or my brain is, but I am stumped. I have no idea of the value of this kit. If anyone is interested in taking a crack at such a project, message me with an offer. I can put it in my AAPK store.

I’m Bill could do the job, but I have no idea of the present value or its future value if it was assembled. It may not be worth the labor cost.

Looking at the "sold" prices of several EDGECO stiletto switchblades like yours over the past few years, I'd say a completed knife goes from $135-$145. In comparison, brand-new Frank Beltrame 9" switchblades cost about the same. So it doesn't look to me like people are willing to pay any kind of premium for an old EDGECO switchblade.

An unmade EDGECO stiletto kit sold here at AAPK for $175.

In comparison, brand-new Frank Beltrame 9" switchblades cost about the same. So it doesn't look to me like people are willing to pay any kind of premium for an old EDGECO switchblade.

I've seen other people have difficulty installing the spring. Sometimes the spring needs a little bending or filing to get the pin through. So if someone is a little crafty, and doesn't mind a little work, they shouldn't have a problem putting it all together.

Also, I noticed awhile ago that the old EDGECO stiletto spring, and the springs from the Frank Beltrame "Switch" line, are very similar, and might be the exact same. Since both knives were sold by Frank Beltrame, that wouldn't be a surprise.

So if a person ever needed a replacement spring for their EDGECO stiletto, and couldn't find someone to sell them a loose one, they might find someone with a broken "Switch" stiletto to sell and try cannibalizing the spring. I don't doubt that there are many people with broken "Switch" knives, because they are pretty cheap and the cast zinc liners are prone to breakage.
